In today's world, the people and institutions in control are accelerating a spiral of violence, poverty, and environmental degradation which endangers all the citizens of the earth.

In order to remedy this situation we need to not just lobby our elected officials, but also must put people in power who act with the best interests of the people in mind rather than the interests of those who fill their campaign coffers.

The Charlotte Area Green Party is part of a growing movement committed to environmentalism, non-violence, social justice and grassroots organizing. Greens are renewing democracy without the help of corporate donors. Please join us in this task.

The Charlotte Area Green Party is part of the North Carolina Green Party, which in turn is part of the Green Party of the United States. The Green Party of the United States is a national party, with ballot access in 32 states and the District of Columbia. The Green Party is also the world's only international party. There are Green political organizations on every major continent. There are over 305,000 registered Greens in the United States.  Unfortunately, in North Carolina, voters can not register as Greens because of the state’s anti-democratic ballot access laws. The Charlotte Area Green Party is working to change this state of affairs.

The CAGP has worked for the last decade to give North Carolina voters choice  that true democracy demands. We have gathered signatures, participated in public hearings, lobbied legislators , introduced bills, joined lawsuits and run Green candidates. Our efforts continue. Click here for information about the statewide ballot access strategy.

We are also involved in a variety of community actions in Charlotte and the surrounding areas. We participate in stream clean-ups, table at green community events and educate voters and candidates. We have also joined the fight to stop Duke Energy’s Cliffside coal plant.
